I got a little weeding done too and then was home by 9:00am to start making Sunday dinner....god I love the weekends!!
Popped back to the allotment after tea to water the tubs and harvest a few of the salad leaves that were ready for the lunches this week...and that was when I noticed that we had some strawberries ready to be eaten...not many...but enough for me and Kate to get a taster of the delicious fruit....and there are so many more to ripen off.
Oh how I love fresh strawberries!!!

Sweet juicy strawberries...DELICIOUS!!!!!!!

Oh yum. My dad always used to plant strawberries in his garden. Oh I miss those days of going out to his garden and taking my pick of all the fresh home grown goodness
ReplyDeleteThat is a first! (So the frost missed some flowers.)
ReplyDeleteStrawberries so early in the year! It's at times like this I wish I'd ordered some perpetual ones as mine will have been and gone before summer really gets going.
ReplyDeleteThey look delicious. Enjoy one for me.
ReplyDeleteOur strawberries are just turning too. The windy weather means we haven't managed to net them yet so we'll have to hope that the birds don't spot then or the slugs.
ReplyDeleteThat's early. I've got plenty of berries on the plants but none of them look as though they're going to ripen for a while yet.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely, now the big decision....how to eat them! I am off to the allotment to check the berries which didn't get hit by the frost, I feel a pavlova coming on!!!
ReplyDeleteAll your goodies are quite ahead of ours... only blossoms here.
ReplyDeleteThose berries do look yummy.

ReplyDeleteYum!
ReplyDeleteMy strawberries are still in flower - but I will keep an eye out just in case any are hiding. Hope you enjoyed them.
I am jealous, my garden hasn't started yet and you are getting fruits already :))...I got so much rain this year...:(
ReplyDeleteI love fresh strawberries. My grandpa used to grow them in a little sectioned off piece of land out behind the house.
ReplyDeleteThe strawberries were absolutely scrumptious and now they are so overloaded with ripe fruit we can have our fill at the plot and get to bring some home too....I do love my allotment!!!
ReplyDeleteWe always get strawberries ready to eat be may....and the late frosts heve never took out the flowers....we have no idea what variety they are as we were given them but if anyone would lie some of the seeds to start a few plants off then feel free to give me your details and I will dry some and post them for you!!
Hope it's not too long before you are all getting your fresh strawberries too!!
