Interviews for allotments4you

I was recently (well when I say recently I probably mean to say a LONG time ago!) contacted by someone about being interviewed for a post on their site.

Ever cautious I asked a few questions first and checked out the site before agreeing to view the questions which I would have to answer.

The questions were mainly about cooking whilst camping which is a little off base to my main site but I was happy to answer the questions and give my personal (because it is definitely not a professional one!) opinion on what I think and would cook if I went camping....and also what I would consider a camping trip.

I'd love for you to all take a wander over to see what you think of my answers to the questions....but if you do go and check them out please remember that I answered them in accordance with a good old fashioned camping trip. So cooking meals over a fire and sleeping in a tent or under the stars....maybe hiking and carrying your backpack at the same time. None of this new age posh camper van stuff...that's not my idea of camping...my idea of camping is going back to basics and making your own fire and having fun connecting with nature.

I know that isn't everyone's 'cup of tea', but that's my take on camping so please remember that as you read through my interview.

Anyway you can check out the site and my interview here;

Hope you enjoy my ramblings.

What would be your idea of camping??

Do you prefer to go back to nature or take as many comforts from home as possible??

  1. Must admit camping really isn't my thing - never has been. We have been renting cottages in the country (France, England, Wales and this year it will be Scotland) and get back to nature that way. But like you our holiday cooking is basic as you don't really want to be spending loads of time cooking and shopping for food.

    1. I think it is nice to get back to nature in any way we feel comfortable with. So many people when going on holiday like to spend their time lounging round pools in the sun...it's not for me though....I like to be experiencing something!!

      Everyone relaxes in different ways!

  2. Good answers, Tanya. I've never been camping, I can't even get my hubby in a caravan, never mind a tent, he likes his home comforts too much.

    2. I must admit, I do enjoy our cottage holidays, and don't really fancy a tent myself, though I wouldn't mind a caravan.

  3. Fab info. We're going camping in the Yeovil/Exmoor-Wales coast area in April, should be a good laugh and leave us with more spends for things like learning to surf and visit Cheddar Gorge and other stuff we don't even know about yet.

    1. That is the thing with camping...it does mean you can experience a lot more as the cost is cheaper. I hope you enjoy your trip and that the weather is kind to you.

  4. I haven't camped in ages and I doubt that I could handle sleeping on the ground anymore. I can certainly go read your interview though.

I wanted to tell you too that I've heard that saying about red skies at night but our version was with sailors instead of shepherds

    1. I'm sure you would still enjoy camping Ann...maybe with an airbed these days though..lol

It's funny how sayings are passed around the world and yet changed slightly to fit the area in which you are saying them

    1. I definitely think if your going to camp then you should go back to basics...otherwise you kind of lose the reason you are doing it!

  7. We go camping quite a bit, OH likes glamping but the boys are in the Scouts so like open fires and stuff.
My favourite are beach barbeques - when we went to Brittany the other year a fisherman came over and gave us a couple of his fish he had cleaned for us - I was really touched a special memory! We also enjoyed scavanging for shellfish there but we've still not managed to catch a sausage. I would like to catch a rabbit but they are to wiley for me and too busy eating the winter broad beans.
