The weather has felt cold most of the time and it has rained...April is really living up to it's saying of 'April showers.....so much so that I worry about the amount of water I am losing over the top of my water butts!!
Some days have had breaks in the clouds with a few sunny spells and some days have been grey throughout..
The temperatures have been a little below average for this time of year (or so the weatherman informs us) and we are definitely back to jumpers and coats for the foreseeable future I think.
The rain is good for the gardens although Anglian water have stated that the hosepipe ban won't be lifted until December no matter what sort of summer we have..in all fairness if we have a wet summer then we shouldn't need to water...and if we have a dry summer then the water situation won't improve so that seems fair enough!
Winds have been up and down with the rain and hail and this has also affected the temperatures.
The cloudy skies have brought warmer nights though and we haven't seen a frost since last weekend.
Having said all that....today has dawned beautiful and clear and there is a nice crispness to the air that only a good spring rain brings....no doubt it will rain before days end though!!
Sunny mornings are becoming a rarity |
We're just not used to all this rain now having had none for so long but fortunately, Yorkshire water made lots of improvements which means we haven't any bans despite hardly any rain!
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky Ann...I am sure if Anglian water sorted out our pipes we would have three times the amount of water in the reservoirs!!
DeleteWho's this Ann person that I've changed into?
Deleteoops...sorry Sue...I apologise profusely for the mix up....very embarrassing to get a name wrong....even worse when it's in print....guess I got a little carried away and forgot whom I was replying to... :-[
DeleteI can't believe the amount of rain we've had over the last two days, I thought it was never going to stop. It continued through the night too, waking me up when it pelted against the window. It's a nice bright day today, though it's rather cold still.
ReplyDeleteOur rain still hasn't stopped Jo...it has got to the stage where it's heavy rain with a quick dry spell as opposed to the other way around...I really am ready for it to go away now!!
Deletehappy sunny day!
ReplyDeleteafter record floods in September we got so little snow and so little spring rains we are at drought levels here in central Pa...crazy weather! but warm and sunny...no one is complaining.
The sun didn't last long....and the rain seems set to stay with us for a while yet....What I wouldn't give for some of your warmth and sun!
DeleteThe weather is up and down and all over the place here. One day it's cold and rainy, the next warm and sunny and the day after it's snowing.
ReplyDeleteWe seems to be getting everything but the warmth Ann...fancy sharing??
DeleteDear Tanya, Our weather here has been rather warm for this time of year and not that much rain. I am waiting for some good spring weather. Blessings and have a good Sunday. Catherine
ReplyDeleteIf I sent you just a quarter of our spring rains...we would still spend most of the day wet!!
Deletehere in central Pa we had record rain in the fall and very little snow in the winter and very little rain in the spring..crazy!! my fall lettuce and spinach lasted all winter
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is strange weather at the moment...but no doubt it will sort itself out ...hopefully in time for summer!!!!
