Pesky pests and running water.

Well I'm not usually one to complain much but I figure I have a right to with the week I've had and then things were just topped off today so i though I would tell you all about it!

It started a couple of weeks ago when I noticed that the water wasn't draining away properly down the drains in the back garden.

I made a call to Anglian water and they very promptly sent someone round to check, they guy asked me if I had any problems with the toilet flushing and I said 'No, but I have heard water trickling which is unusual. Anyway an investigation by him proved a blocked sewage system which he promptly sorted, said everything was well and them went away. However the trickling sound didn't go with it.

Last Tuesday I noticed a mark on my kitchen wall and when I lent over to have a look I lent on the wall and found it wet through. Closer inspection showed some ominous dark spots appearing near the joins of the wallpaper. Another call to Anglian Water and then a transfer through to Homeserve had me waiting for a man who came and knocked holes in my kitchen wall to fix a sluice pipe.

Then today I say to my Hubby, 'I thin we need to call someone as I can here something in the roof over the bathroom.'. At this point he tells me he has heard it too, apparently so had all the children and yet none of them thought to say anything.

Anyway I was on the phone to the pest control people and we were discussing what the noises could possibly be, you know the usual suspects...Rats, mince, birds, squirrels when I happened to look up and see things swarming around the top of the roof...one of the cheeky blighter's even had the nerve to come into the conservatory....

Hornet or wasp or bee

So these are definitely in the roof but the pest control guy doesn't think these would make a noise so maybe there is something else up there too. Anyway they are coming tomorrow so I guess that's when we find out the whole story.

They say these things always come in three's, what I want to know is does the looming hole in the wall and the plaster replacement count as the second and this is the third or is there another surprise waiting around the corner for me?? I really hope that's it!!

    3. I certainly would Sue..I used to teach pre-school and infants!!

I am always picking people up on diction, spelling and grammar...guess it's a seriously bad habit that some don't appreciate.

  3. Oh no, I think you've had your fair share now. We've had some water problems this morning, no running water at all to clean our teeth or have a wash. They've even closed the local primary school because there's no water. Luckily, it's back on now, but it makes you appreciate what you've got when it isn't there. Hope you manage to get everything sorted out today.

  5. Oh my dear what a week!!! And it all started from a problem with slow drainage! It almost reminds me of a book I used to read when I was younger about how a simple pest problem triggered a whole plethora of misfortunes. But I certainly hope this is the last of them for you!
Happy Monday regardless...may the new week bring you some peace of mind. Sorry that you didn't quite enjoy my video very much this week. Vampire Weekend isn't for everyone, but I personally feel like dancing around to that song whenever I hear it! :) I like so many different types of music, but usually my top choices are Indie rock, jazz, blues/rock, or soft rock (like the classic stuff). What do you like to listen to? :)

Well, have a wonderful afternoon, Tanya! Thank you again for visiting! I love hearing from you!

    Toodles for now,
    Tammy<3

    1. When I get a week like this Tammy I always go on the premise that things can't get much worse...at least it makes me feel better.

Don't worry about this weeks choice of music, if we all liked the same thing it would be a very boring world. I like most genres of music with the exception of rap. But of course there are always songs within those genres that I'm not keen on or just plain don't like. I like a song to have meaning to it. I also love operas and musicals.

It's hard to pick a particular artist/genre as my mood often reflects what I'm listening to, I think my most played album is probably Kenny Rogers I have a lot of compilation albums too.

  6. Dear Tanya, It is a rough patch for a lot of us. I have heard of things coming in three's, mine must have been 3 x some really large number!
Anyway, I hope that this is cleared up soon! Is that a bee in the jar. I am terrified of them I puff up like a pumpkin!
    Blessings dear friend. Catherine xo

It's a wasp in the jar and the nest has now been eradicated so I am a much happier person. xx
