Finished Cake...
Now I will just say here that I used ground almonds in the crumble and not chopped, also I used more plums than stated in the recipe and the type I used was Victoria plums but any type is fine. Once cooked the cake was still quite 'gooey' in the middle but we rather enjoyed it this way...however if you want a firm cake right to the middle you may want to cook it a little longer than stated. It was delicious and one I will make again...maybe next time with some different fruit and variations in the crumble too. We had it warm...myself with fresh double cream and my kids with ice-cream.
.
This looks a bit like the rhubarb crumble muffins that I made.
ReplyDeleteIt does Sue..I never did get around to having a go at making those...maybe next year...or even rhubarb in this one. Thinking about it I suppose you could make this in small cases too.
DeleteFruit crumbles are just the best!! Oh how lovely...especially with the Autumn weather setting in. I love this, Tanya, and with a scoop of ice cream...I can only imagine how wonderful it must have been! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful afternoon!

I do like the fact that no matter what fruit you have lying around it can always be made very quickly into a crumble for those chilly autumn days!!
DeleteYum. I do love a crumble.
ReplyDeleteMe too Jo.
Deleteoh that does look delicious and I bet it's really good warm or cold
ReplyDeleteWe never tried it cold Ann..we always re-heated it...I think it would taste great cold too though...maybe I should double check next time I make one!!
DeleteThank you Tanya for those kind words of encouragement. I do feel good that I actually got something planted. Looking at the other side of the allotment is depressing, but I reckon I will get there eventually.
ReplyDeleteIts so hard to fit it in with life and work, but I will keep at it.
Thank you again Tanya and thanks for visiting.
Dave
PS - I have subscribed to RSS feeds for your posts - excellent!!!
No Problem Dave...it's always great to receive some positive feedback when you are first starting out...I remember how daunting it was when I first got my allotment so I know exactly how you're feeling. From what I see though you are going about everything exactly the right way!!
DeleteDear Tanya, I never made a cake with plums. It looks so good. I would love it warm with vanilla ice cream and whip cream too. I think this would be delicious too with blueberries.
ReplyDeleteBlessings dear friend. Catherine xo
Plums are wonderful in cakes Catherine...I think I use them as much as I do apples in desserts as we always have so many when they are in season. You should definitely try baking with them...they're delicious!!
