Friday Forecast...week 42....19/10/12. Where did all that time go???

Well I can't believe it's been two weeks since I last sat and wrote a post...and I can't even say it's because I had nothing to write as there has been plenty going on...I guess maybe a little too much which means come the evenings I have been that exhausted the last thing on my mind has been sitting in front of the computer. I think I need less hobbies..lol

So the weather is now very autumnal and the leaves are rap[idly turning and falling form the trees.

The temperatures have took a nose dive and most of the time are in single figures which means the heating has gone on in the Walton household..much to the delight of the children!

We've had a few bright days which I have loved, I don't think you can beat that smell of a crisp autumn morning but as of yet no frosts to speak of, one day last weekend there was a light sprinkling of white on the shed roof but it hadn't covered the ground at all.

Having said that there have been some strong winds at times and quite a bit of heavy rain but this week the rain has mainly been in the evenings after dark and has cleared away before the sun has finished rising in the mornings so that's a blessing.

I have been getting some cleaning up done down the allotment preparing for the winter but as of yet no digging has started though I am still hopeful to get it done before November.

I have also been getting plenty of cooking done and I am waiting patiently for my pumpkins to finish ripening so I can roast the seeds and make some pies and soup. Anybody got any other ideas on what to make with pumpkins?? Besides Jack o' Lanterns that is.

This could be an immensely lengthy post but I think I will keep it short for now and try and figure a little bit of time each day to catch you up gradually.

Here's hoping the weekend is a nice one so I can get some more clearing up done!!

  1. We've just got back from a few days in North Yorkshire and managed fine weather during the day and downpours at night which unfortunately meant we couldn't make use of the huge lawned gardens. Very boggy!

  2. Time seems to be passing by so quickly this year, doesn't it? Although I've grown a pumpkin or two, I've never cooked with it. All mine have been carved for Halloween, even the tiny Hooligan ones, and I haven't grown any this year.

  4. Dear Tanya, I am happy to see you back!! I am glad all is well.
I understand that time goes so quickly and there are not enough hours in the day! I too sometimes try to get busy on the computer in the evening but my eyes start to get too sleepy to get anything done.
The weather here is chilly and the nights are getting shorter and shorter. I have not even bought a pumpkin yet!
I did have some growing in years past, but this year was not a good harvest at all! I guess I will have to try harder next year. The trouble is they are pretty expensive to buy.
I hope that you have a good weekend and try to rest up.
So glad to hear from you my dearest. Blessings and a hug. Catherine xo
