Friday Forecast...week 45...09/11/12

Autumn leaves and autumn trees
Autumn leaves and autumn trees
Well it's an 'autumny' picture again although there aren't quite this many leaves on the trees now so I think it's the last I will be sharing with you. It's quite a nice photo but nothing compared to the seeing it with your own eyes!!

Over the course of the week the weather has improved for us. The rains seem to have moved away and with them the bitter chill that was in the air so that we have had a week with temperatures mostly in double figures although the winds have still been quite sharp at times.

Yesterday was really nice as was today and would have been perfect to get down the allotment but with needing to shop, attend the dentists, work, have the plumber and the gas-man in and then work again I just didn't get the chance. Although I did manage to find time on Wednesday afternoon to get the front lawns cut before I had to head out to work so that is one less job to do.

I was hoping for the weather to last and get some good work done tomorrow but I have just been to put the cats out for the night and found that it is now raining...oh the joys of the coming winter!!

On the plus side my new stove is all fitted so if I can't get to the allotment I think I will do some baking in my gloriously shiny new oven!!

To be honest though I am hoping to get to the allotment. With everything else that has been going on I still haven't got my garlic and broad beans in the ground. Do you think I'm too late now??

I still have so much that I want to get done before I close down for the winter.

Well I guess that's all for now..what are your plans for the weekend?? Hope you enjoy it no matter what they may be!

    1. All our leaves are nearly gone now too. I still have a little produce to harvest and a lot of work tog et done in readiness for winter. Now if only the weather would cooperate.

  2. We actually have had some sunshine in the past week, it seems like forever since we had seen it.
By the way I liked your thoughts on my nutty dunker post about having to sample several boxes...lol

    1. I think we all get a little glum when the sun decides to hide for a while and it's so nice when it shows itself to us again if only for a short while.

Yes the doughnuts need to be tasted several times...it should be written into your contract!!

  3. Not too late for garlic Tanya. I don't know about broad beans as we don't tend to over winter any.

I always find that the colours are lost in autumn tree photos unless the light is right - not too dull and not too sunny!

Must admit I felt sorry for the cats!

  4. Well I hope to get it in the ground today then Sue.

Autumn colours are always better seen with the naked eye unless you enhance your photos.

Maybe I should have been more specific about the cats. They aren't put out into the garden just into the conservatory where they have food, water and cosy beds on the sofa. When the weather gets cooler we shut this off at night and as their cat-flap is in there then that's where they go too. They always know as I lock the doors and turn off the lights for the evening and are more than happy to jump into there beds...they like to get out at night to hunt so I would hate to shut them in.

    1. That's OK then - I thought it was unlike you to put the cats out in pouring rain.

  5. Your weather sounds much like ours this past week. I thought that winter was here to stay at the start of the week, but it's warmed up again, thank goodness, I'm not quite ready for winter yet. Hope you managed to get some time at the allotment. I haven't been today but I'm hoping to get something done down there tomorrow.
