Tackling the garden.

Well it's been a busy week, there have been some ups and downs but now things seem quite calm and I am pleased with what I managed to accomplish over the course of the week.

I got all of the garden sorted. Tomatoes went into pots, lawns were cut, beds were weeded and flower plants were put in...All that is left to tackle is treating the wood on the shed as just lately the rain soaks in more than it runs away...maybe a job for tomorrow!!

Enjoy the pictures.

The flowers are a mixture and planted in blocks to enhance each set as they come through. There is a nice variety of marigolds, messy's petunias, lobelia, tagetes, godetia, lupins and dahlias. I'm sure there are a few more in there as-well but I can't for the life of me remember what. I decided after much deliberation to just grass the old patch in the front lawn where the bird table used to be and this is filling in nicely. Since first moving the bird table I have now added a frame round it and put some weed membrane underneath and I am slowly filling it with pebble/stones as I dig them out of the garden as this makes it easier to weed out any seed the birds drop that starts to grow. My best find was my Kiwi Issai. I though it had died over the winter but it has come back fighting this year so I am hopeful that in the future I will have some lovely fruits to harvest. So that's the garden complete for the summer. Now it will be just some light weeding and lawn cutting which will be nice and leisurely...at least that's the theory anyway!

  1. I wish my lawn looked as good as that. I'm too lazy at maintaining it to keep it up. One of these days I won't find something better to do than mow my lawn.

  2. I don't like the mess outside any more than I do in Ratty!!

  3. Our Issai has had flower buds for ages but they just refuse to open. The large kiwi on the plot is the same.

  4. It's all looking lovely. What a good idea to put weed membrane under the bird table, I'm forever weeding around mine with the birds dropping so much seed.

    1. It is really annoying that the birds leave bits of seed. I love them visiting the garden but I hate the weeds so I am hoping this will make things a little easier!!

  7. I came back to answer your questions from my blog. I did keep the newspaper that I painted those stars on but I've done more painting on it and now it doesn't look quite so nice. All the crafts that I've been showing recently are for the craft show in August so those garlands will be going with me

    1. Thanks for coming back Ann. You have made some great things for the craft show. Be sure to photo all of them when you have everything ready so we can see what a wonderful array you have to sell.

  8. Dear Tanya, Thank you for the pictures. It is fun to see how the garden is coming along.
Please be careful for bug bites. I got a nasty tick bite in my garden. I was in the garden just a few minutes looking to see if the oregano from last year was coming back. It was a bad bite and I am on antibiotics for a few weeks.
Your garden is looking beautiful. Blessings dearest and hugs, Catherine xo

    1. We don't have as many bugs over in the UK as what you or even the rest of Europe have and for this I ma grateful as when I have visited Sweden I have suffered nasty bites. That said thank for thinking of me and you be more careful in the future too. Hope you are soon back to full health. xx

  10. Hello Tanya :)

Beautiful pictures...you have come across the pond and help me out! Haha..truly you're amazing. It's really coming along.

Thank you as always for stopping and taking the time to comment. It is appreciated. To answer your question, you can you any tea you like actually. And if you really don't care for the taste of cold tea then I would even suggest for you to omit that ingredient. The sweet oranges and rose water will still taste wonderful. I hope you try it.
