Now the concept of a Secret Santa is that it's supposed to be a secret but everyone at work is really nosey and have been trying there hardest for the whole of December to find out who people had and what they had bought them. I kept mine a secret until after presents had been passed out and everything had been unwrapped...I still wasn't going to say but I got fed up with people going on about it so in the end I owned up to my present.
Our party was a little different this year as we had it at a work colleagues house and all paid some money towards a buffet. There were quiz questions dotted around the house for you to solve if you wanted to and we also had songs around the piano. It was a really nice night, the food was lovely and because you weren't sat around a table having a meal it meant you had chance to chat and mingle with more people. Impromptu magic tricks and karaoke were all part of the evening. All in all a great night.
Secret Santa all wrapped up!! |
So now to reveal my secret Santa present which was received lovingly by the recipient!!
Glass painted secret Santa gift |
A wishing star |
Wish upon a star. |
On the pother side I put a photo of Jeni and then inside are pieces of paper so that a wish can be written and enclosed within. Then the following year Jeni will be able to open it up and see if her wish came true before writing another one!!
OK, so that was it...I got a lovely gardening journal and I have been told by a member of staff who I need to thank for it...how thoughtful of them...lol
So not a bad night at all...maybe I will even consider going to the next Christmas party...not sure if I will ever be able to top this years secret Santa though...what have I set myself up for!!!!
.
We used to do secret Santa too and it was always difficult to decide what to buy - a nice touch to make something - did you also do the glass painting?
ReplyDeleteYes Sue, I bought the frame and then a plain star tree ornaments then went from there!!
DeleteYour gifts were so clever and creative! Our work party was this huge mob scene with speeches and much stupidity. I won't be going next year even if they say it's mandatory again.
ReplyDeleteThanks tpals...sorry your christmas do wasn't to your liking...but if ours had been like yours I don't think I would attend either!!
DeleteDear Tanya, You are wonderful. What a creative gift. I love the star and the wish to open next year and see if it came true. That really is unique.
ReplyDeleteThe glass painting is very beautiful and this gift means so much more that you put your heart and soul and thoughtfulness into it.
I am sure that Jenn is very happy.
I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the party. I am like you, I don't go to parties and am very hesitant about the whole thing. I am glad it turned out to be fun.
Merry Christmas dear friend. I am so happy that I met you in this blogging world.
Happy New Year!!
Blessings dear and hugs, Catherine xo
Thank you so much Catherine. I am glad I attended the party..it was nice to see Jeni open her gift, I think I liked even more the fact that her reaction was so genuine as she didn't know who her secret santa was at the time.
DeleteI really have big shoes to fill for next year though..lol
What lovely gifts, glad you enjoyed the party. I was never really one for works do's when I worked but we often used to have Secret Santa's in the office.
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the secret santa bit more than the party bit...I'm not so bothered about receiving one but love to give out presents!!
Deletewe do a secret santa thing at work too and it's the same way, everyone tells who they have or try to find out who has them. Our party is always at work and during the work day. You kind of have to do your parying while on your break or lunch
ReplyDeleteI think I would like the party to be at work...this way I wouldn't have to worry about what to wear or who to socialise with...I would just carry on working!! lol
DeleteYou did a lovely secret santa gift too Ann.
An interesting wishing star
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteInformal parties are usually very enjoyable and it sounds as if your work's party was a good one. Hand-made gifts are always appreciated and yours were thoughtful and creative. Hope you have a happy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteIt was a really nice party. It's the first time they have done it like this and I really hope they do it again next year.
DeleteThank you.
The idea of a wishing star is a good one. I'll have to remember it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ratty.
DeleteDear Tanya, Wishing you a very happy and very blessed New Year.
ReplyDeleteCatherine xo
