Visitors around and about!

I love living at the edge of a village in the countryside...we get such wonderful visitors....

I saw this two birds of prey frolicking out my bedroom window!!

Of course...you don't always have your camera handy at that perfect moment and it was really
unfortunate that I didn't have it a couple of weeks ago when Juliette and I were on our way home
from the pub after an allotment committee meeting and a barn owl swooped down in front of the
car windscreen and landed in the tree branches right next to us. It stayed there for a few minutes before taking flight again and it was a wonderful thing to witness.

I did however have my camera to capture this...

pigeon on the bedroom window sill.

I cam home from work a few weeks ago and found this on the sill outside the bedroom window. I didn't want to scare it so didn't open the window but could clearly see the tag on it's leg so new it was a lost racing pigeon. If it was still there in the morning \I was going to call the R.S.P.C.A. to see about getting them to retrieve it in case it was hurt in any way but it soon took flight once the sun rose, I hope it managed to find it's way home!!

  1. Nice to live where you get to see wild life on a regular basis. I would hate to live in a big city

  2. Its great to see birds around the garden and you've managed to photograph quite a few. I always find it difficult to photograph birds as they move quickly.

    1. They do disappear incredibly quickly Kelli, that's why I love my bird feeder being out the front window...it gives me chance to try and get some photos without startling them!!

  4. Awww, I bet the pigeon was resting before getting on with the race. What a shame you didn't have your camera handy to get a photo of the barn owl, we had a red kite flying overhead the other day, they're a lot more common these days than they used to be.

  5. I love your bird pictures. It must have been great to even see the barn owl. I've never seen an owl myself.

    1. It was lovely to see the owl Ratty...my house is actually on their flight path and I often see them whizz by out the corner of my eye but to see it swoop and land right in front of you really is something spectacular.
