Lots of work!!!!!

Well I have been meaning to post for a long time but things have just been majorly hectic. Anyway I'm here now so will share a few things with you and then save some for later in the week...after all don't want to bore you all outright!!!

So plenty of work has been taking place down the allotment....crops are in the ground and things are coming on nicely in the greenhouse. I really worked my fingers to the bone last week with the promise of some major rain which never quite reached us although it did make up for it this Sunday...which I suppose was typical for a British bank holiday weekend!!

That's all I'm going to say about it...now I will just share some photos!!

runner beans, sweetcorn and squash

So as you can see I have got some things done and I am feeling quite on the ball this year. My runner bean germination is a little disappointing so I think I will have to sow some more and I would be grateful if anyone out there knows what I am supposed to do with 'welsh bunching onions'?? I have planted them but they were given to me...are they actually an onion or some sort of herb??
I guess I should have looked into that maybe before planting them...but then again I do like to try new things!!

Well that's all I have for you today...just wanted to let you know that I am still around and not shirking all of my hobbies!!

More in a couple of days!!

  2. We don't plant our runner beans until the latter part of this month and then in its in the greenhouse to start them off so you've still plenty of time, We too were busy trying to beat the rain which is now holding up any more progress,

    1. Thanks for that Sue, I usually plant mine a lot earlier than this so I am used to an earlier crop but I would sooner a later crop than no crop...I will get some more seed in the weekend.

  3. It's all looking very tidy and you've been very busy. I haven't planted any beans yet this year, I was just saying at the weekend that I need to get some started. I've never grown Welsh bunching onions so I haven't a clue about them, I look forward to hearing more.

    1. I have direct sowed the dwarf beans this year so I hope they germinate okay...trying to save myself a bit of work.

  4. You have worked hard indeed and everything is looking great in the greenhouse and on the plots. It's good that you got so much done before these days of wet weather.

    1. I was quite pleased I got so much in before the rains...should really give the germination a boost...at least that's the theory.

  6. It looks like you've been very busy. I mean to plant a vegetable garden every year, but I never do it. I have so much land, but it's usually covered with piles of firewood. I usually help my neighbor with his vegetables, but I don't have many recipes for hot chili peppers. He loves those.
