The autumn raspberries |
The brassica bed will be another potato bed and this will hopefully happen over the weekend so that the King Edward potatoes can go in. My other task this weekend will be to make sure the strawberry bed doesn't have to share it's space with dozens of dandelions for much longer.
So as you can see....still much to be done....but hey....I don't want the chance to get bored.....as if I would ever have the chance!! lol
.
I never cut back my autumn raspberries until spring so you are fine to do it now, Some people leave old cane s on half of their plants so they fruit earlier on the old canes and then again in autumn on the new canes but I don't as we have summer raspberries for that,
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Sue...will get onto it this week.
DeleteI don't have summer raspberries but have always cut mine down...they tend to come really early anyway.
Your worst areas don't look too bad, I wish that's all I had to tackle. We've been a bit busy with other things so far this year so the allotment has been a little neglected. We're trying to catch up with it all now as things are waiting to go out. I don't know much about raspberries but I think I'd still cut them down. They may not produce as much this year but at least they'll have been tidied up.
ReplyDeleteI think we all get side tracked with one thing or another at times and then realise where we are (or aren't) at and really go for it!!
DeleteDefinitely cutting back the canes!!
