the really wild patch! |
the really wild patch! |
I pride myself on have a little area for the wildlife but this had just got ridiculous!!
There's supposed to be a pond and herb patch...not to mention fruit bushes and manure heap....now I just have to find them!!!
Okay...so after lots of stings and thorns I managed to find the pond. |
After some cutting back of bushes and a bit of weeding the manure heap was once again revealed!! |
Who would have thought the herbs would have fought so boldly to hold a place among all those weeds!! |
So after an hour of cutting, tugging and pulling I have something that resembles more a wildlife patch and less of something that resembles sheer neglect. You can even actually walk on the slab path now and see the shed as you approach. It isn't the best it can be but it is a huge improvement and I am more than happy with that little hours work. below is the final photo I took as I left.
So this is at looks after an hour of tidying up! . |
Come do mine now!
ReplyDeleteActually I would enjoy that Kev though I know many wouldn't...I have been known to visit peoples house for a cuppa and then offer to garden or do dishes or clean up...I'm not so great at sitting still..lol
DeleteA very busy hour, well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue...it was very satisfying to step back at the end of it!!
DeleteThat's much tidier but still wildlife friendly. Sadly, my whole plot is looking very much like your before photos at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI really bet it isn't as bad as you imagine Jo...I know sometimes I think how bad mine is (although not in this particular case..lol) and yet when I get home and look at the photos I realise that it wasn't so bad after all.
DeleteHow very satisfying! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Belinda.
Deletegood job. I'm good at sheer neglect when it comes to gardening and yard work. :)
ReplyDeleteI think we all have times like that Ann!!
DeleteI wish I had the same motivation as you do to fight the weeds. I keep the grass short right around the house but I let the rest grow out of control. I kind of like it that way, but I sometimes wonder what it would be like if I kept it all under control. It would probably just reveal all of my dad's old junk. :)
ReplyDeleteOh believe me when I tell you my motivation comes in fits and starts Ratty. Reveling your Dad's old junk though...I think that would give me some motivation just to see what I could find!!

ReplyDeleteDear Tanya,
Thanks for visiting my teasury post.
Oh my! That first photo looks like burning nettles. Ouch! I hope you were wearing good gardens gloves.
Best wishes & hugs,
Anna
Fortunately my middle nettle got me the best gardening gloves for my birthday this year and I was very grateful for them whilst carrying out this task.
DeleteIt's always so rewarding to get outside for a bit of a tidy up. You did a good job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelli...this always gives me a huge sense of satisfaction.
DeleteAmazing! (I'm back!) we have been battling weeds with us too. There is something very satisfying in pulling up a huge handful of weeds!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you Rosie...hope the weeding is going well!!
