Rainbows and raindrops

rainbows in the east
Rainbows are one of natures
natural beauties.

rainbows in the east
You don't always get to
see a full one.

raindrops on the window
Of course to see a rainbow you
have to see the rain....

Beautiful sunsets
........and the sun...this time with a wonderful
glow as it set to the west.

Rockery redo and a bit on the plot.

So the weekend as usual hasn't gone exactly as planned. I did manage to get the ground looking lovely and the new potatoes in so that is one weight off my mind.

As usual I have planted my favourite 'Nicola' potatoes but also in the allotment shop I saw some 'Ratta' salad potatoes, I have never seen or heard of these before so I bought ten tubers and put them in the ground too.

Apart from the potatoes  I got some weeds pulled and the bee plot got it's first haircut...I don't have photos of any of that although it isn't that exciting anyway.

I also tackled the rockery in the garden...it had started to resemble a jungle,

As you can see from the photo above three plants had taken over and there was no definition left and an awful lot of weeds...however just an hour later....

rockery, rockery plants.
A rockery with room for more alpines.
Don't you think it looks so much better?? Today I did intend to get a bit more done up the allotment it has been so cold that I decided to give it a miss so instead we popped down to Homebase to get some much needed compost, some shallots that I want to have a go at growing this year and some alpines for the rockery.

The shallots that I found at homebase all had one or two in the bags that were rotting so I asked at the till for some money off and got the bags at half price so I was quite pleased with that.

The rockery plants were put straight in...I probably should have remembered the names but really can't...I just hope they grow well and add a little more colour over the summer.

Apart from that not much has happened over the weekend although we did dog sit today for our neighbour...Eva has Labradoodle (Basically a golden Labrador, standard poodle x) who isn't quite a year old.

Labradoodle Suny and Collie/Shepherd Trojan
Suny and Trojan
Suny is a good boy and him and Trojan get on really well.

So even though it has been a chilly day and I didn't get to the allotment we have had some fun with the animals and it has been nice to relax for a bit.

Hope you have all had a good weekend too.

That's it for now...off to walk Trojan in the beautiful sunshine and then up the allotment to get some hard work done.....well try to at least!!

Remember how the photos wouldn't upload in my last post?? Well many hours later and after having changed to 'google chrome' hey presto....everything works perfectly.

Hubby says that you are given many choices but in reality you aren't given any....isn't that just so true for a lot of thing these days!!

Anyway the pic above is of Tro with a couple of his friends...didn't they all sit lovely for the photo!!

What's been happening on the plot.......

So again it has been a while since I have posted...Easter vacation has been and gone and to be honest I didn't really accomplish that much over the holidays but I am sure it will all work out OK.

The first thing I needed to do was sort the greenhouse as upon visiting I discovered that some of the glass had got broken in the winds.

I had some spare glass for the greenhouse so got to work sorting it out and it was all going great until I impaled some of the glass in my leg. Needless to say it was quite painful and very bloody so that put paid to the rest of the day...it is nearly two weeks since I did this and the bruising has nearly gone now and I just have a neat little hole still left to fully heal but it feels fine now!!

(I did take plenty of photos to share but blogger doesn't seem to want to comply at the moment and won't let me upload any photos...not really sure what the problem is but if anyone has been having the same problems or knows how I can fix it then I would love a little advice!!)

As well as getting the greenhouse repaired I got it all sorted out and tidied up, I also sorted out the pots in and around the greenhouse...a lot of the terracotta ones had broken and so they were emptied out and then smashed up to be recycled and then I got started on putting some of the seeds in the greenhouse. I did have every intention of getting the potatoes in this Sunday just gone but the winds were so strong you struggled to stay on your feet so I figured they could wait a little longer and they will hopefully go in this weekend!!

The allotment is looking quite nice at the moment...a few weeds to be pulled up but nothing too major so at the moment I am feeling quite optimistic about the year.

I also managed to get some tidying up done in the garden and a full bee inspection done this week but I will tell you about that in another post.

Well without the photos I guess that's about it but I will try and sort that problem and put up a picture post soon.

Hope the weather is good for us all over the weekend!!
