Si we are into the third month of the year and what a moody start it was, grey clouds rolling across the skies, wind howling through the still bare tree branches and the rain lashing down. So not what I wanted to see when I got up this morning.
 |
Grizzly skies and windy wet days. |
On the plus side the bad weather finally spurred me into getting the sons bedroom furniture from bits on the floor to cupboards and shelving so that was a job well done!!
Not much has changed up the allotment since the beginning of February apart from moving a bit of rubbish and to be honest with the weather the way it was I didn't fancy visiting the plot anyway.
But of course Trojan still needed his walk so I took the camera with me and snapped about a bit....Trojan didn't seem the least bit bothered by the weather!!
 |
Who's there?? |
 |
Have a little skip! |
 |
Paddle in the puddles! |
Not many people out on our walk today...plenty of birds to share the fields with though!!
 |
Seagulls, crows and ravens. |
 |
Not the least bit bothered by Trojan!! |
 |
Name the seagull?? |
 |
Here's a closer look! |
None of the birds are bothered by either myself or Trojan. There were quite a few seagulls but with them that's as far as I can identify them. Have you any idea what they are called??
.
no clue what they are called. Reminds me of a field I passed today on the way home that was loaded with birds. I assume they were seagulls but not sure
ReplyDeleteGlad someone is as educated as me with seabirds Ann!!
DeleteWe've just had a snowstorm here, everywhere is white. I'm just hoping that it doesn't stay. That's one thing about having a dog, you have to go out whatever the weather's doing. I often feel like hunkering down but I'm usually pleased once I've wrapped up warm and got myself out, Archie's not so keen. The bird is a black-headed gull.
ReplyDeleteThanks for naming the bird Jo
DeleteIt looks like a black headed gull though I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon. The weather is dire isn't it, Rocky took his sweet time to sniff every blade of grass at 6:30 am this morning ! xx
ReplyDeleteDon't they always take sooooo long to sniff on the days where you really want to get back home quick!
DeleteHi Tanya,
ReplyDeletePretty grey up here in Northumberland too after a lovely sunny final week of February in which I got loads done on the allotment. The crows in your photo are all Jackdaws and the gulls are Black-headed Gulls. They have a white head in the winter but develop a black (or, rather, chocolate brown) head for the breeding season. Hope this helps!
Gill Osborne
Thanks Gill that's great...I do love to learn new things.
DeleteThe brown headed one is a black headed gull. The other ones probably are too but haven't yet their brown heads as in winter the brown feathers are lost and they only have a blackish spot at either side of the head which I can detect in some in your photo. The black bird looks like a jackdaw.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is in agreement about the gulls, couldn't understand why everyone was naming my Jackdaw photo...that was until I realised I had typed 'blackbird'...lol
DeleteI love a good walk in the wet weather. Not many people are out then, but there are lots of animals.
ReplyDeleteYou do see some wonderful wet sights in the rain Ratty!
DeleteYes its been grey, lovely to get a clear sunny day today. I'm sure it will soon brighten up and they will all be rushing around trying to get our plots ready.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be right there with you rushing around on that one Annie!!
