So we have become mole victims!! They seem to be running up and down just outside my garden...I mean seriously...couldn't they have run a couple of inched to the right?? At least then they wouldn't be messing up the grass verge!!. Oh well, I guess I have to give them the fact that they kept them in a nice straight line!!. I will be taking the soil off the top and putting it into the flower bed but I'm not convinced they won't be back...any ideas on how to deter them??

I think the only way forward is to remove a strip of grass and develop a mole border!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of work Sue...which I would possibly consider apart from the fact that the moles aren't actually within my garden boundary and I'm not sure that the parish council would be happy with me if I start digging up there land!!
DeleteI don't have any experience with moles so I'm not help. They did keep it in a nice straight line.
ReplyDeleteYes they have kept lovely and straight, I usually see mole hills in circles, having said that it does run up alongside a concrete plinth....maybe they tried to go in a different direction and couldn't!!
DeleteYou will not be best pleased with this answer. We have had moles now for about 5 or 6 years. The sonic sticks do not work they act as moles attractors, as the mole thinks it is either food or another mole which they will fight with to protect their territory. Our mole came up to the sonic device and circled it, the words taking the P*** come to mind. Then scented pellets were tried again to no avail. The only solution which moves them into another part of the garden was to keep on stamping the mole hills down and eventually after quite a few months they seem to move to a different part of the garden. The more mole hills you have the less worms you have in your garden as the mole increases its foraging area based on the worm content of the ground.
ReplyDeleteGlad they are actually the other side of my garden boundary then Ron. I think I have got off pretty lightly as it seems they were just passing through..no more hills for a while...hope I haven't just jinxed it!!
DeleteThere must be some way to stop them, but I don't know it. My brother has the same problem. I'm not sure he was ever able to solve it.
ReplyDeleteI think many of us have the same problem Ratty, whilst cute soft creatures they are destructive and incredibly vicious!!
DeleteAre you sure someone isn't planning to put up fence posts ;)
ReplyDeletelol
