Let's share Christmas!!

O.K., so it's still cold, miserable and the days are still short so I thought now whilst we are all still feeling a little glum would be a good time to share my 'gardeningy' Christmas presents!!

So no more talk....Picture time!! :-)

A book on honey and all it's uses.

So firstly I have a Honey book to share with you. This, very surprisingly came from the Headmaster at school. Up until now I have always received a box of chocolates so I was a little taken aback by this wonderful gift and have to give credit where it's due. It is full of amazing myths and legends on honey and then also has lots of food recipes a long with ways to make the best use of your hives by utilising everything the bees give you. I haven't had chance to read all of it yet but I do love it and know that it is going to be coming out a lot, not only to help me with things to make and do with my honey and hive products but also to give me some ides on the new blog I have started for Grantham Beekeepers. (yes I am publicising again...but really some of the posts I have in mind are going to be relevant for all of us to help sustain the worlds bee populations!!)

Paper pot maker...large

Next is a paper potter. I already have one of these in the greenhouse on the plot but the beauty is that this one is a little bigger so now I can make two different sizes of pots. I love the inscription painted on the front of this one. How true it is for all of us who garden or own and allotment!!

Seed storage tin with compartments.

Then last but not least is my seed storage tin. Again I do have one of these, same size but in pink that I have shared with you before. Now I have two I will be able to order my seeds better so that older seeds can go in one and keep all of this years seeds together. Also by not clumping so many into the one tin will give me better visibility.

Of course you all no about my wonderful camera...I'm thinking I should start another blog purely for photos...I love finding opportunities to experiment but then what do you do with them?? Maybe I should have a random photo day On here...what do you think??

After all check out this....

The full moon??

When you can take photos like this with it without having to do any editing at all it's a shame not to share them!!

That's all for now!.

  1. Some really practical gardening gifts there and the book on honey was also a thoughtful one. I'm using a lot of honey at the moment in lemon and honey drinks for a bad cold. Obviously, local honey would be even better than the supermarket variety, but I'm grateful for having some in the store cupboard. The photo of the moon is great and sent me back on a past post to check which camera you've acquired since I would like to upgrade mine and haven't done anything about it yet.

    1. Honey is excellent for colds Linda and we my Hubby and I also used our local honey last year to combat hay-fever. Anything is better than nothing but local honey is great and tastes great...maybe you could fins a bee-keeper near you...or try your local health shops foe local homey??

    2. And definitely a great simple camera that produces excellent shots if you're after something simple and a handy size.

    3. Going to a health food store or checking out a local bee-keeper sounds like a good idea.

  3. Some very useful presents there. I'd like a seed box but I wouldn't be able to fit all my seeds in one that size, I'd need two like you.

    1. I thought that once I got my seed box I may be less inclined to over buy but it didn't exactly work that way Jo. They are excellent storers though so if you're thinking about getting one any time I would definitely recommend these.

  4. You use them on Wordless Wednesday. You may have noticed on Wednesdays I just post photos of whatever I took that week - not necessarily garden related. I did consider starting a photo blog but when I thought about it my life isn't in compartments so my one blog should reflect me rather than just on part of me.

Also I've found where people have more than one blog I tend to visit one of them rather than both.

That headmaster had your number didn't he?

    1. Okay Sue...I guess I need to start wordless Wednesday...and really think about the pics I'm taking in the future. I get what you mean about a blog reflecting a person and not a single hobby of that person...I think I have covered many subjects besides the gardening...plus sometimes (especially this time of year) there is so little to write about so I will stick with the one. Thanks for the comments on it...I am actually like you and only tend to go to the one blog of a person.

I know...quite spooky that the head was so thoughtful...no doubt I will find out some time this year what it is he wants...lol

    1. Thanks Catherine..the posts from my Honey book will probably go on the bee blog as it will be good content for there but I'm sure you will go over for a read. I loved all of my presents very much and know I will get much use out of them.

      Take care. x
