Well we have hit week 40 and the months have become double figures...somewhere along the way we were supposed to get a summer but I don't think it really happened this year!!
The weather has been a little up and down this week but although there have been the heavy bouts of rain and dull skies at times there has also been that glorious blue sky and the air has had that crisp autumn feel to it.
Still hasn't been cold enough to put the heating on indoors but I have taken the time to look out my scarf and gloves. Realised i need a new winter hat too!!
It seems to get dark so early now and on an overcast day the street lamps are lighting up by 6pm and of course the mornings are pitch black when I wake.
Autumn is quite nice with all the wonderful colours but i don't relish the thought of winter!!
Here's hoping we get some decent weather over the weekend so I can get some more done down the allotment ...think it might even be time to get those squash plants up!!
Have a great weekend!

Our heating is just on a thermostat and it doesn't agree with you! Maybe we're just softer!
ReplyDeleteMaybe my house is a little warmer Sue?? People are always telling my how warm my house is!!
DeleteIt won't be long now until the clocks go back and then it will be dark even earlier on an evening. Hope the weather stays fine over the weekend so we can all get outside and do some work.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to block out the fact that it's so close to us moving the clocks Jo!!
DeleteHere's praying for that nice weekend!
Dearest Tanya, It is amazing the the months are in the double digits!
ReplyDeleteI don't know where this year went! I do love the Thanksgiving holiday. I don't go out or have a big party, but I love cooking with my daughter all the little goodies that are made for that day.
I hope that you have nice weather for the weekend and enjoy. Blessings dear friend. Catherine xo
Time seems to pass so quickly, I think it is worse this year as the UK has had so little summer.
DeleteWe don't have a thanksgiving here in the UK and it is one holiday that when I have watched the American movies I always wished we had with all that family time and good food.
Hello Tanya! It's been a crazy busy week and I haven't been able to keep up with all my blogging buddies. Weather wise, it has been the same here, and surprisingly warm! I started the Halloween decorating yesterday and it was 77 degrees! I still have on flip flops! But so far, the weekend has turned out lovely, considering we did have some rain and storm clouds earlier in the week also.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I hope the weather is nice where you are. Enjoy your time down at the allotment before it gets too cold! I have some more decorating to do! :D
xoxo,
Tammy<3
Hey Tammy, thanks for stopping by.
DeleteStill wearing flip flops??? Crazy girl ...lol
Hope the weather stays nice for a little longer yet.
Have a good week.
Dear Tanya,
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect description of the change in season! This is what it is like here in Sweden. It's just that I don't have a garden or many plants to think about. Maybe in the spring, I will realise my dream of making an indoor garden on the close-in balcony. I have already purchased a little heater to make it warmer and dryer to hang my clothes to dry.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment about my RFW-story, my additional prequel to Jenny's saga. I wrote that story for you. I mean, I posted it because you wrote that you missed reading about Jenny. So this snippet is for you! I have more that I could post, about those topics that you mention in your comment.

RFW No. 46 - 'Birthday Madness'
There is so much you can grow indoors or on a balcony Anna and there really is nothing like eating freshly picked herbs and fruit and veg. I highly recommend you give it a go.
DeleteSo your weather is just like ours...I always remember it being a little warmer in your neck of the woods this time of year..then a LOT colder come the winter!!
our temperatures have taken a bit of a nose dive and we are on the chilly side of autumn. Nice weather for curling up with a good book
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about this time of year is when I get home from work it's almost dark so I don't feel guilty about curling up with that book.
DeleteWe've been putting on the heating sporadically...it's been getting really cold here some days!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd feel a bit better about winter coming if the summer had been a more productive one for the garden. Such a shame really...
I know what you mean about the summer turning into winter Tanya. I just don't have a freezer stocked to overflowing like a usually do. I guess in the olden days it would have been a hard winter to get through with so little stored.
DeleteI was just reading an article on the Guardian saying that it's not just our kitchen larder that's a bit bare of produce - world food supplies are running very low at the moment. Scary!
DeleteI finally caved and put the heat on in the house..after all the kids were walking around inside, with their coats on!
ReplyDeleteI think it's getting to the stage where all of us whose seasons are changing for the colder are starting to Annmarie. I guess it won't be long before we need it daily, soft species that we have become!
DeleteMy kids often say, 'it's c9old can you put the heating on?', I'm always telling them to put more clothes on!
Dear Tanya, Dropping by to say hello and hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteBlessings my dear. Catherine xo
Thanks Catherine...can't believe where the time has gone this week...really need to get a post published!
DeleteDear Tanya, So happy to hear from you and all is well. I know that the time goes so quickly. I feel like that song, "one step forward two steps back".
ReplyDeleteI thought I would tell you the hampers gift baskets are located in the UK.
Have a happy Saturday and hope the weather is nice for you. Blessings dear. Catherine xo
May have to look into those hampers then Catherine...they looked very nice!
DeleteIt seems like it was practically overnight that it got dark so early!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Liz...and it is just going to keep getting dark earlier and earlier for a while yet....one of the reasons I like Christmas so much is because i know the winter solstice has passed and the days will start to get longer again!
